Contributing to Mautic: Building the Future Together

community sprint mauticon europe 24

Day two saw the community rolling up their sleeves during the Community Sprint, an opportunity to contribute to the four teams that keep the Mautic open source project running. Teams collaborated on several crucial projects:

Mautic 6 Development: Working on the next major version of the platform

Documentation Migration: Improving and updating the documentation system

Marketing strategy: Working on defining and building a strategic approach to marketing Mautic as a product, alongside sharing news from the open source community

Onboarding Bot: Developing tools to help new users get started with Mautic

After a lovely lunch sponsored by Bouncer in the Portuguese sunshine after a rather rainy start to the week, everyone got back to work for a focused afternoon of contribution.

Following a successful day, many of the attendees reconvened for a special barbeque by chef extraordinaire Lenon Leite, with more opportunities for getting to know each other and making those important connections.

Mautic Conference Global 2023: A phenomenal success https://mautic.org/blog/mautic-conference-global-2023-phenomenal-success Wed, 28 Jun 2023 14:51:31 +0000 https://www.mautic.org/mautic-conference-global-2023-phenomenal-success/ Can you believe it: It is already the fourth time that the Mautic community celebrated its world-wide online conference, in addition to the yearly in-person conferences.

The event kicked off with 2×3 hours long, hands-on training sessions for new Mautic users. The training was designed as an interactive business simulation focused on cold emails, nurturing campaigns, and WooCommerce integrations with Mautic.

Then, from June 21st to June 22nd, attendees from around the world gathered virtually to learn, share, and connect. The conference was filled with inspiring keynotes, informative sessions, and engaging networking opportunities.

The conference kicked off with a welcome address by our keynote speaker, Dmitry Kudrenko – CEO of Stripo – who set the tone for the rest of the event. Attendees were then treated to a series of informative sessions covering a wide range of topics, including marketing automation, digital marketing, and customer experience.

At the core of the event, like always, was “The Mautic Update” by project lead Ruth Cheesley: A comprehensive roundup of everything Mautic, including some breaking news and unique insights regarding the Mautic project as well as the product.

Sessions within the event were led by industry experts who shared their knowledge and insights, providing attendees with valuable takeaways that they could apply to their businesses.

Integration, plugins and DXP

Aligned with Mautic’s next steps in the world of the Digital Experience (DXP), many tracks approached topics regarding Mautic integrations, plugins and using the API. Luiz E. O. Fonseca, for instance, had lots of tips for end-user marketers to enhance their workflows using low-code, open-source tool nodemation (n8n).

Leo Schuler took a look at a more code-based solution for marketers dealing with B2B strategies. By hooking into Mautic’s core and custom scripts, his session showcased an idea for managing duplicate form submits.

Also focusing on managing leads and enhancing nurturing campaigns, Rodrigo Demétrio’s track showcased how to connect Mautic stages to a sales pipeline with a new Mautic plugin. With a drag-and-drop interface, the plugin offers a sales funnel that can also connect Mautic to other CRM tools.

It’s all about the customer

Who doesn’t like to play games and have fun? From this starting point, Vladimir Mladenov presented two case studies of how gamification can enhance a marketing campaign. Using Mautic focus items alongside tools such as forms and segments, the examples showcased wheel of fortune, quiz and memory game options for lead acquisition and qualification.

Networking and community building

One of the additional highlights of the conference was the networking opportunities. Attendees were able to connect with each other through the conference platform, allowing them to build relationships and share ideas. The virtual networking sessions were a huge hit, providing attendees with an opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals from around the world.

Also well received were the different language tracks enabling localized communities to gather and build out ties and foster regional connections. Discussions about how to strengthen local engagement and the surrounding communities brought to light quite interesting ideas on how to regionally strengthen the ecosystem and make more people aware of the value Mautic could bring to the specific local challenges.

Another highlight of the conference was the virtual expo hall, where attendees could explore the latest products and services from a variety of vendors. The expo hall was a great place to learn about new technologies and solutions that could help attendees take their businesses to the next level.

Overall, the Mautic Conference Global 2023 was a huge success. Attendees left the conference feeling inspired, informed, and connected.

Missed something? There’s still time

We would like to thank our sponsors, speakers, and attendees for making this event a success. We are already looking forward to next year’s conference and can’t wait to see what the future holds for the Mautic community.

If you missed the conference, don’t worry! You can still access the recorded sessions by purchasing a ticket as the event will be open for the next week, or you can wait a few weeks until we release the videos. We hope to see you at our next event!

Mautic’s next in-person conference is looking for a location! https://mautic.org/blog/mautics-next-person-conference-looking-location Wed, 30 Mar 2022 14:28:25 +0000 https://www.mautic.org/mautics-next-person-conference-looking-location/ Our in-person conferences are a great opportunity for Mautic users in a region to gather, learn and network. Last year we held our first ever in-person conference in Hasselt, Belgium which was a great success – we had some fantastic speakers, and an extremely productive community sprint where all teams got a lot done and we welcomed several new contributors.

In the Mautic Community we have decided to rotate continents each year for our in-person conference, which gives an opportunity for local communities to host the event.

Would you like to have the next Mautic in-person conference in your country?

We are inviting you to submit a proposal before the end of April 2022 for consideration – we will make the final decision during our community sprint in Budapest. The conference will happen in November 2022, but we are flexible on the actual dates.

What do I need to consider if I want to propose a location?

Importantly, we cannot hold the event in any European country – so you need to be outside Europe. Other than that, here are some of our requirements:

  • A team of people who are going to work together to run the event
    • This does not have to be a big team, but should be more than one person

  • A city where the event will take place – ideally someone in the team should be ‘on the ground’ and live in or near the area
    • Well connected for national and international travel connections
    • A good range of reasonably priced accommodation
    • A strong Mautic community presence

  • A venue where you think the event could be hosted over 1-3 days
    • A large plenary room for talks (or smaller rooms if the event would be multi-track)
    • Breakout rooms for community sprints, follow up discussions
    • An area for networking between sessions

  • Local interest from sponsors and attendees
    • There should be at least one local sponsor who is interested in financially supporting the event

If you have an idea for a location please submit it before the end of April here:

Upcoming Mautic Conference: Please help the organizers! https://mautic.org/blog/upcoming-mautic-conference-please-help-organizers Tue, 14 Dec 2021 08:07:03 +0000 https://www.mautic.org/upcoming-mautic-conference-please-help-organizers/ Our official Mautic Conferences have quickly become a central factor to Mautic users and service providers. To make these events happen, we (i.e. the Mautic community and Open Source project) rely on volunteers to prepare and to run them.

Today I’d like to ask you to become a part of that team! For 2022, we have made that much easier by clearly defining and explaining the various roles and tasks – see this overview. In short, we need all sorts of skills.

Please take a brief look: Would you consider helping us for

  • Mautic Conference Global (online, June 8th-9th, 2022) or for the
  • Mautic Conference (on-premise, November 2022, location yet to be defined)

with any of those tasks?

That’s great! Please simply send me an email (or contact me on Slack) and let me know your thoughts (or questions, too).

Of course, this is completely non-committal. And you will have all the assistance you want, from those who had the same role in previous Mautic Conferences. There is a lot of experience already, so all it really takes is your willingness to contribute a bit of your time and passion for Mautic.

Thank you very much in advance!

Ruth Cheesley
Mautic Project Lead

P.S. Can’t volunteer yourself? Please discuss with your colleagues, maybe somebody else might be able to help Mautic here!
Or help us financially, instead, by sponsoring the event. Interested? Please contact me via email or Slack, see above.

Mautic Conference Europe 2021 – Our first in-person conference https://mautic.org/blog/mautic-conference-europe-2021-our-first-person-conference Thu, 18 Nov 2021 13:45:39 +0000 https://www.mautic.org/mautic-conference-europe-2021-our-first-person-conference/ Finally, the long wait had an end: the Mautic Community came together the 8th and 9th of November in Hasselt, Belgium for the first ever in-person conference – Mautic Conference Europe.

The event started with a very promising and informative Conference Day. Around 25 attendees had the possibility to listen to 9 speakers from 6 different countries and 3 different continents. Just imagine how much global Mautic expertise came together in this event!

The talks were hitting a wide range of topics:

  • Mohammad Abu Musa explained how we can use Mautic to maintain Email deliverability
  • Alex Hammerschmied gave valuable insights to a real-life case on how to turn leads into returning customers
  • Madlen Friedrich and Ekkehard Gümbel talked about print mailings as part of Mautic campaigns, and why companies should include them into their marketing strategy
  • Project Lead Ruth Cheesley discussed the results of the Mautic Community Survey and gave a preview of what to expect in 2022 and beyond
  • Dennis Ameling presented the long desired, new Mautic Marketplace
  • Toon De Geest and Frederik Wouters explained how they built a fully autonomous personalised email system with Drupal & Mautic
  • And last but not least, Andy Towne shared practical steps for advancing from newsletter to fully automated Marketing Automation

Thanks again to all speakers for sharing their knowledge with the Mautic Community!

In case you missed the event, you might want to follow Mautic on Social Media to not miss a possible release of the recordings.

Community day

The following day was a community sprint day, planned as a hybrid event. So, folks were working on-premise at Corda Campus in Hasselt as well as remotely covering topics from all our teams. There has been a lot of progress! (And a massive pizza order :D)

  • Product: 62 PR’s got ready to commit and have been merged already for Mautic
  • Marketing: Draft of a pitch deck for Mautic including cases studies, and commenced a review of the website
  • Community: Concept for Local Mautic Communities, blueprint for ‘Contribution Bootcamp’
  • Education: Several knowledgebase articles have been written

For all of us it was a pleasure to finally meet so many members of the Mautic Family in person and get to know more about them and their journey with Mautic. This made the event very inspiring and motivating as one could really feel the passion about Open Source from the participants.

Project Lead Ruth Cheesley summed it up as:

“a really wonderful few days full of energy, excitement, collaboration and enthusiasm!”

If you feel inspired and motivated now as well, help us make Mautic even better and contribute in whatever way you can. Have a look here https://contribute.mautic.org/contributing-to-mautic

Announcing Mautic Conference Europe – Nov 8, 2021 in Hasselt, Belgium https://mautic.org/blog/announcing-mautic-conference-europe-nov-8-2021-hasselt-belgium Mon, 27 Sep 2021 17:42:13 +0000 https://www.mautic.org/announcing-mautic-conference-europe-nov-8-2021-hasselt-belgium/ Inspiration – Education – Networking – For Mautic Users

The Mautic community aims to hold its Mautic Conference Europe 2021 as an in-person event. Doors will open on Monday, 8th November 2021 in Hasselt, Belgium to welcome 50 attendees plus team and speakers for inspiration, education and networking around the leading Open Source Marketing Automation software.

All talks will focus on deep and practical insights on successfully using Mautic in Inbound Marketing – thus this conference is primarily for existing and future Mautic users, as well as Mautic agencies, primarily from Europe (although we welcome visitors from further afield as well).

After the tremendously successful Mautic Conference Global online events held over the last 12 months, it has been decided that this format will now be complemented by one per-continent Mautic Conference per year, where people can meet in person once again. These per-continent events will typically be around November (while Mautic Conference Global is planned to remain around May/June), and are expected to move to a different continent every year.

Important Dates for Mautic Conference Europe 2021

  • Call for Speakers – closes Oct 10th
  • Ticket Sales – opens Oct 1st
  • Sponsorship Options – opens Oct 1st
  • Main Event – Monday, Nov 8th
  • Team Sprints – Tuesday, Nov 9th

As there will be a very small number of sessions during the event, we strongly encourage potential speakers to take the time to carefully prepare their submission and provide all the information requested on the call for speakers.

Inclusivity and Diversity

Striving for inclusivity and diversity is among the core values of the Mautic community. We will be covering the travel and accommodation costs in full for speakers who are selected for the event. Ticket purchasers will also be able to contribute toward scholarships by paying over the minimum ticket cost on a ‘give what you can’ basis or by directly donating to the scholarship project. This will enable Mautic users and contributors who would like to attend the event but for whatever reason would struggle to do so without financial support, to join us in Belgium. Community Contribution Day on Nov 9th

Mautic Conference Europe 2021 will be followed by a collaboration day organised by the various Mautic teams (Community, Education, Product and Marketing) on Tuesday, 9th November. These Community Sprints will be hybrid, i.e. open for all contributors from Mautic’s global community who cannot attend in person. Also, all conference attendees are invited to stay for the second day and get in touch with the community and the project even more deeply.

Covid Implications

The event organizers are committed to host the event in a most responsible way.

A maximum of 50 tickets will be available, and the event will consist of a single track of presentations. If the social distancing regulations still apply in November as they do now, it may be necessary to reduce this number due to the capacity of the available room. We therefore recommend that if you wish to attend the event, you secure your place sooner rather than later.

Preliminary rules on safety and vaccination will be published when ticket sales opens. Nonetheless, all planning obviously still carries some amount of uncertainty, so a possible cancellation of the event has to be anticipated.

Tickets will be 100% refunded should event have to be cancelled, and we suggest that you ensure any travel and accommodation bookings have full cancellation and/or rearrangement cover.
