While email remains the most used tool for communicating with people in marketing automation, SMS text messaging allows for instant, personalized communication.

Setting up text messaging in Mautic is simple.

  1. Get an account at Twilio, the messaging provider.
  2. Configure Mautic with the Twilio username, password and sending number.
  3. Create some text messages to be sent.
  4. Include one in as an action an active campaign.

It’s that simple.  You should note that while the stand alone version of Mautic is free to use, Twillio charges for every text message you send.

“Powerforming Actions” with Standalone Forms – A Mautic Minute https://mautic.org/blog/form-actions-a-mautic-minute Mon, 13 Jun 2016 11:36:43 +0000 https://www.mautic.org/form-actions-a-mautic-minute/ One of the great features of standalone forms in Mautic is the ability to perform actions when someone submits the form.

form actions on standalone formsUsing standalone forms, you can do the following at the time of submission:

  • Adjust a contact’s points
  • Modify a contact’s segment
  • Modify a contact’s tags
  • Provide an asset to download
  • Push the contact to an integration (like a CRM)
  • Send an email to the contact
  • Send an email to any user
  • Send the form results to anyone

It is important to note that if you use this type of form, you must send the contact to a segment to include them in a campaign later on.

Adding actions to a form is really helpful.  In this Mautic Minute video, we demonstrate five actions, all triggered by a single form submission.  You could create a form that uses all the actions or just one.  It’s that powerful.

Using the PACE Acrostic – Getting Started with Mautic https://mautic.org/blog/pace-acrostic Mon, 23 May 2016 14:06:39 +0000 https://www.mautic.org/pace-acrostic/ If you’re trying to figure out how to use Mautic, then understanding the PACE acrostic in this getting started video should help!

Understanding the PACE acrostic in Mautic

At Mautic, we want to help you build meaningful relationships.  This can be with potential customers, constituents or even business partners.

We do this by providing you with the tools to reach them. These include among other things forms, landing pages, assets, emails, text messages and web notifications.  Once all these are ready, you can incorporate them into simple or complex campaigns.

As people flow through campaigns, you can segment them into more refined groups, create follow up points of contact and more!

Finally, the best campaigns are properly evaluated campaigns!  Mautic gives you a drag and drop dashboard and reports to help you track everything.

We call this the “PACE” workflow.
People->Assets->Campaigns->Evaluate.

Choosing the Right Form For Your Campaign – A Mautic Minute https://mautic.org/blog/the-mautic-minute-choosing-the-right-form Mon, 18 Apr 2016 15:04:39 +0000 https://www.mautic.org/the-mautic-minute-choosing-the-right-form/ Welcome to the Mautic Minute!

This is the first in what we hope will be a long list of short tutorials on different aspects of Mautic.  Today’s tutorial answers a question I received from a user last week.

There are two kinds of forms:  “Campaign” and “Standalone”, each with its own characteristics.  How do I know which one to use?

Choosing the Right Form

Campaign forms allow you to send people straight into a campaign and be the source for that campaign.  These can be edited even after a campaign has begun. Any actions you might want to perform at the time of submission, are handled by the campaign itself, and that can be limiting.

Standalone forms can also allow you to kick-off a campaign. The main difference is that the form submitter must be added to a list as one of the form actions.  The form itself cannot be used as a campaign lead.  You can perform any number of actions on a standalone form!  For instance, if you want an email sent to an administrator when the form submits, then you would use the standalone variety.

Campaign Forms:

  • Push the lead directly into a campaign.
  • Can not perform other actions outside of the campaign workflow.

Standalone Forms:

  • Can not initiate a campaign.
  • Can perform actions at submission such as:
    • adjust a lead’s points
    • modify lead’s lists (which must be done if this form starts a campaign)
    • modify lead’s tags
    • download an asset
    • push lead to integration
    • send email to lead
    • send email to user
    • send form results (such as another administrator)
